Revelstoke and area residents packed a hall in the Revelstoke Community Centre on the evening of Mar. 1 to pitch their ideas for community projects for funding through the Columbia Basin Trust's Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Program (CIP/AAP).

The CIP/AAP is a $3.6 million Basin-wide program that provides funding for projects identified as priorities within communities in the Basin.

The Mar. 1 meeting was an opportunity for community groups to present their projects and then vote on them. It is one step on the applications process. The results of the vote are not public at this stage.

A local evaluation team will now review the projects and provide recommendations to Revelstoke city council and CSRD Area B director Loni Parker, who will then vote on recommendations, likely in about a month.
