This Thursday, April 13, Revelstoke is invited to join two-time Juno Award Winner Tal Bachman; one of Canada's hidden gems, as he hosts an intimate evening of stories and songs with dedicated, local musicians.

Bachman has a unique charm of capturing the audience and the stories you will hear him deliver, accompanied by his treasure trove of masterful songs will be well worth the admission. Joining him will be several local performers for a songwriters circle.

A songwriter's circle is simply artists sharing original songs and stories with the audience sitting closely. It has a 'house concert' feel more than the standard musician on stage, crowd over there, dance floor in between set up. Chairs will be set up on the River City Pub floor, so it's really first come, first serve for the primo seats.

Joining the songwriter's circle will be Revelstoke's own rising star, Aza Deschamps, who is forging a path for young musicians regionally with her strong musicianship, uniquely powerful voice and now, original song writing.

Northern Sons will also be sharing the stage. The duo is comprised of local, well respected, veteran musician/guitar teacher and song writer Morgan Toutant and his partner-in-music, Jesse Booth, an amazing player originally out of Nakusp. Booth is a vocalist to be experienced and phenomenal guitarist as well. He can often be seen singing with Kaylee Knecht in Partial to Pie as well.

Finally, I will have the honour of rounding out the circle, sharing some of my material from a 30-year career in music. For this show, I also got to serve as both promoter and producer; but, think the title of co-producer should go to Aza's mom, Sarah Mickel, for her solid effort in promotion. She did the posters and revisions and has been hitting up social media for us.

In a songwriter's circle, each musician will be sharing original material and will relate why the songs meant so much to them from their conception. It is an evening of honest and simple reflection on the process of why music means so much to musicians and hopefully you the audience as well. Bachman will start the show with three songs, pass the mantle to Northern Sons for two songs, then over to Aza for two and I finish with two.

Then we take an intermission and we go back through the circle again. At the end, we'd love to have Bachman sing a few more tunes for you.

Please show your support and come out to the River City Pub from 8-10 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 at the door only!

Without you, the audience, we can't have live music. Musicians need crowds. They need a cheer or hands clapping. It is what makes a performer perform! Thanks for your support in any way.
