Brandon Cruickshank trial arraignment date set
A four-day pre-trial hearing in St. Paul, Alberta court last week resulted in a Sept. 26 arraignment date for former Revelstoke resident Brandon Cruickshank.
The pre-trial hearing was subject to a court publication ban, so details of the hearing can’t be published.
Pre-trial hearings involve the presentation of evidence to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial, which is the result here.
On Sept. 26, prosecution and defence lawyers will meet again in St. Paul, Alberta Court to set the date for a trial, which is likely to span days or weeks. The Court of Queen’s Bench trial will likely also take place in St. Paul, Alta.
Brandon Cruickshank, 19, entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of first degree murder in Cold Lake Provincial Court on Jan. 12, 2011.
The charges stem from an Oct. 14, 2010 shooting on a rural property near Cold Lake, Alta. that left two men dead. Jimmy Armillotta, 27, of Revelstoke and Fil Kedzior, 21, who has some connections to Revelstoke, were found dead on the scene after a neighbour reported a man with a gun outside the remote property in the early morning hours.
