Anna Marie Hanson (nee: Rota)

Jan 26, 1961 – June 13, 2011

Anna Marie Hanson (nee Rota) passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital on June 13, 2011 after a lengthy illness.

Anna was born on January 26, 1961 in Revelstoke, B.C. and had been a lifelong resident until 5 years ago when she became ill. Anna had just celebrated her 50th birthday this year with all her loved ones around her. She was very happy that she made this milestone and this had been one of her last really good days. After coping with becoming a quadriplegic, infections took over and her battle came to an end too quickly, having never made it back to Revelstoke.

Anna loved her two dogs, Kyra, and Charlie and could often be found walking on the flats or by anywhere there was water. Becoming a grandmother was her greatest joy and she loved spending time with both her grandkids. You could not ask for a more loving and devoted mother and grandmother. We can all remember her smiling face at the Revelstoke Forum, she was an amazing woman with a kind, beautiful soul with a wonderful sense of humour.

Anna was predeceased by her mother, Dolores in 1998, and father, Harold in 2002. Anna is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Norman of Vancouver, daughter, Brandy (Jeff) Jacob of Revelstoke, daughter, Laura (James) Deslaurier of Calgary, grandchildren, Madelyn and Jesse, sister Linda (Randy Sopko) Hay of Revelstoke, brother Raymond (Cindy) Rota of Calgary, sister, Brenda (Rick Bennett) Rota of Sorrento, brother, Gary (Wendy) Rota of Revelstoke, sister in law, Judy (Jim) Mutter of Langley, sister in law Wendy (David) Chin of Burnaby, and brother in law Steven (Angela) Hanson of Abbotsford, aunt Marcella (Hans) Raffel of Kamloops as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her long time friends, Janice Christoffersen, Darlene and Darryl Cancelliere, and Bert VanGoor.

A special thank you to her caregivers, Jienelyn, Eva, and Marilyn and to all the doctors and nurses at St. Pauls, GF Strong, and Vancouver General Hospital who have looked after Anna these past few years during her illness.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Bell and Burnaby Funeral Chapel in Burnaby, B.C.
