Arthur Nelson (Bubs) Kelly passed away in his home in Cherryville on December 29th, 2007 at 64 years of age. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Charla, of 30 years; his children, Nelson (Allison) Kelly, Karyn (Steven) Hyciek, Jeff (Kim) Kelly, Jim Kelly, Marilyn (Gordon) Prebushewski, John (Barb) Whitehouse, Leslie Kelly, Shirley DeLeeuw, Ruth (Guy) Levesque; his 29 grandchildren, and his 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many friends from near and far. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Dodie Kelly, his daughter Brenda Kelly, and two grandchildren, Trevor and April.

Bubs was very family-centered, and perhaps his greatest accomplishment was the raising of his children. Bubs loved all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren equally, the biology of each was not important to him. Bubs was honest and caring. He took pride in his work and always gave a full days work for his pay. He aspired to a very strict code of ethics and a strong belief that if he lived “right” everything would work out as it should. Bubs will be sorely missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Yakashyn, Dr. Bintley, Dr. Barss, Dr. Sauciuk, and Dr. Hoegler, as well as the staff of the Kelowna Cancer Centre for their kindness and expertice in lengthening Bubs’s life. The family would also like to give thanks to Judy and Terry of the Lumby IDA, and the entire community of Cherryville for their kindness and support during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Bubs’s Life was held Saturday January 5, 2008 at 2pm at the Cherryville Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
