Derrick Tanner Smith
Derrick Tanner Smith passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the age of 19 years. Derrick was born on June 3, 1991 in Vernon, BC and spent his early years in Nakusp, BC before moving to Revelstoke, BC at the age of 6. He graduated from Revelstoke Secondary School in 2009 and went on to work in the construction industry.
Derrick was a protective, loving big brother. He adored his mother and father. He had a wonderful support group of friends who he loved like family. He was an amazing cook, a talented photographer, an avid mudbogger, and loved to longboard... but most of all he loved his big orange Chevy truck.
Derrick will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents Marilyn Bridge and Cory Smith and brother Shawn Smith of Revelstoke; Grandparents Evelyn and Harold Bridge of Nakusp, BC and Linda and George Scott of Nakusp, BC; Girlfriend Jessalyn Rogers of Revelstoke; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends - all who loved him very much. Derrick was predeceased by Grandfather Richard Smith, Great-grandmother Alva (Nan) Smith, Clarence (Unc) Canning and Barb O'Neill.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Revelstoke Community Center on Saturday April 2, 2011 at 2pm with Gary Sulz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Asthma Association of Canada (www.asthma.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
