Joel Nixon chose to end his own life on August 30, 2009 in Revelstoke, B.C. at the age of 29 years. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Revelstoke United Church on Saturday afternoon, September 5th, 2009 with Joel’s family and friends presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UNICEF Canada, 201 – 3077 Granville Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3J9 or to Community Connections Children’s Programs, P.O. Box 2880, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Joel.


Joel was born in Kamloops, B.C. on October 15, 1979 and had lived in Revelstoke for most of his life. His hobbies were many and varied. Some of these included fishing, hiking and camping, snowboarding and surfing. Joel loved to travel and enjoyed a good read. He enjoyed the time spent with his family and had a tremendous love for all animals. Joel was hard working, sensitive, kind and caring. He is already missed.


Joel is survived by a large, loving family and a community of friends.
