Karen Louise (Yuchym) Wheeler passed away peacefully on March 27, 2016 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, surrounded by her family. By Karen’s request there will be no formal funeral service. There will be a private interment at a later date in the family plot at the Solsqua Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the B.C. Children’s Hospital, 4480 Oak Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3N1, in memory of Karen.
Karen was born on June 17, 1950 in Vancouver, B.C. and lived in Revelstoke for many years prior to her move to Vernon six years ago. She enjoyed painting – watercolors were her specialty, fishing, camping and bowling. Karen especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Karen was predeceased by her mother Donalda Yuchym, brother David Yuchym and grandsons Shawn and Kaleb Scholz-Wheeler. She is survived by her husband Brian Wheeler; daughters: Kerrie Wheeler (Nathan) and Shannon (Jim) Meloro; son Mark Wheeler; seven grandchildren: Stefan, Brayden, Terren, Mark, Graicen, Domenico and Ava; four great grandchildren: Ellie, Isaiah, Elfie and Gabriella; her father Alex Yuchym, brother Les Yuchym, good friend Joan Clarke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
