Norman A. Thompson


February 10, 1917 to August 12, 2009


Active until the end, Norm passed peacefully with his family by his side. Survived by his wife of 61 years, two sons, a sister and two grandchildren.


Born in Vancouver, Norm grew up in Revelstoke, where he excelled at sports. During WWII, Norm served overseas with the RCAF as a Pilot Officer. Afterwards, he graduated from UBC Commerce, where he won a scholarship in his second year. His career in management took him from Vancouver to Calgary to Winnipeg. Norm was a past president of the Manitoba Manufacturer’s Association.


He enjoyed over 25 years of retirement in Mission before moving to New Westminster. An avid golf, tennis, basketball and curling player; an avid lover of jazz; an avid supporter of charities, including the United Fund, serving as the Calgary Chairman of the Business Section in 1965.
