Raymond Joseph Poitras of Revelstoke passed away suddenly on October 13, 2017.
A memorial service was held on Sunday October 22, 2017.
Ray was born in Revelstoke on January 25, 1968. He was the fourth son born to Murdock and Rose Poitras and was always known as the 'baby boy' by his Mom.
Ray grew up in Revelstoke and met the love of his life in 1989. In 1990 Ray and Fran moved to Fort St. John, then on to Chilliwack, High Prairie, McLennan and Edmonton. During this time Ray worked as a truck driver, equipment operator and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners for over 10 years.
In May of 2005, Ronnie was born. Raymond was so proud of his son and was happy to honour his late older brother by naming Ronnie after him. In 2007 Ray and Fran moved back home to Revelstoke. For the next 10 years Ray enjoyed spending as much time as possible with Ronnie. Ronnie truly was the light of his father's life. Ray would often say that Ronnie was his greatest accomplishment.
Ray was predeceased by his father Murdock in 2010, brother Ronnie in 1971, and half brother Brian in 1960.
He is survived by his loving wife Fran of 28 years and his son Ronnie. He is also survived by his mother Rose Poitras of Revelstoke; brothers, Randy Poitras and Roland (Angie) Poitras of Revelstoke, sister Debbie Poitras and niece Eden Rose of Kamloops. Half brothers, Terry Piper of Keg River, Donny (Marilynn) Piper of Keg River and half sister Sharon of Airdrie, as well as a large extended family.
