Velma Anne (Val) Edeburn


Val Edeburn passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Thursday, October 8th, 2009 at the age of 78 years. A Celebration of Life Service was held at the Knights of Pythias Castle Hall on Saturday afternoon,

October 17th, 2009, with Reverend Heather Hamlin Gravells offi ciating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trees for Tots,

P.O. Box 752, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory

of Val.


Val was born in Vernon, B.C. on September 3, 1931 and

had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1978. Loved

to play bingo, keno, cards – especially Canasta and casino

slot machines. Val was an avid birdwatcher and

was always putting out feed for them. She also enjoyed

gardening, crocheting, embroidering, baseball, curling

and fi gure skating. She was a great bread maker and

sold her bread in Trout Lake when she lived there. Val

was an “Avon Lady” for many years and was very

dedicated to her customers, making sure they always

had their order delivered to them, no matter what.


Val was predeceased by her husband Oren in 1995

and her daughter Jo-Anne Thomson in 1998. She is

survived by three daughters: Maureen (Ed) Draper

of Crawford, Bay, B.C., Belinda (Will) Stewart of

Crawford Bay, B.C. and Tammy (Michael) Gutziet of

Revelstoke; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren;

her mother Bessie Sweeten of Kamloops; two sisters:

Lois Lapadat of Smithers and Carol (Lawrence) Tyssen

of Kamloops as well as numerous nieces, nephews and

cousins.
