The Cops for Kids riders stopped in Revelstoke yesterday afternoon, ending the Cranbrook to Revelstoke leg of their journey.

Yesterday the group of 34 riders did 111 kilometres, and hit the 560 kilometer mark since they started the endeavour six days prior.

Though the weather was good for most of the ride, Revelstoke RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky, one of the riders from Revelstoke, said that it poured rain for the 40 kilometer Paulson descent.

In Revelstoke the team stopped at the RCMP detachment and then at the Swiss Chalet Motel for a snack.

They packed up their bikes and hopped on a bus to Three Valley Gap and left the following morning for their Salmon Arm to Kamloops ride.

Cops for Kids is a charitable foundation dedicated to raise funds to support children. They assist with anything and everything from ankle braces to iPads that will help a kid overcome challenges.

Their main fundraiser each year is the Cops for Kids Ride. This year Grabinsky and James Moore from the Revelstoke RCMP are participating.

“This will be my second year participating in the Cops for Kids Ride,” Grabinsky said on his fundraising page. “Last year was a great experience to meet the kids, families, and the members of this charity. It is personally rewarding to travel around B.C. knowing that each leg of this adventure leads to meeting another family. Each community that welcomed us on this journey was truly appreciated. I am looking forward to riding another 1,000km this fall. Hopefully no need for duct tape this year.”

It is Moore’s fourth year participating in the ride.

“During our 10 day event, we’ll cycle into 22 communities throughout the RCMP’s South East District to raise money for local children who need it most,” Moore said on his fundraising page.

So far Grabinsky has raised $4,110. Moore has raised $7,973.
