Christmas traditions are a big thing in my family, and we do some things different than other people.

My family is from Sweden, and not a lot of people know that Swedes celebrate Christmas on our Christmas Eve! My family blends together Swedish culture and Canadian culture, and I’m going to tell you how we celebrate.

We have our dinner on Christmas Eve, like you would in Sweden, and we have a big ham for dinner, along with mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, and meatballs! For dessert, we have Christmas cookies, a Swedish fudge cake, and ice cream.

We open presents on Christmas Day, like in Canada, and for the rest of the day we usually would go cross-country skiing. We love spending time together, and that’s what we do for the whole day.

On New Year’s we go visit my aunt in Kelowna, and that’s where we celebrate.

Christmas is an awesome time of year, and I hope everyone gets to spend it with their family!
