Revelstoke’s Tyler Smith received his long-awaited heart transplant on Feb. 26.
Friend Vittoria van Leur reports that Smith is recovering in hospital and is keeping up an “amazing attitude” about his recovery.
“He is in great spirits,” she says. “Tyler is truly our town hero!”
The 19-year-old Revelstoke resident had been awaiting a transplant in Vancouver for months. He suffered from ailments for over a decade before his condition was diagnosed last summer.
Community members are invited to sign a get-well card which will be available at Revelstoke Pharmasave from Feb. 28–Mar. 4. The card will then be send to Tyler and placed in his room during his recovery.
