The organizers of the Revelstoke Terry Fox Run are looking for volunteers to help put on the event this year.

The 37th annual Terry Fox Run (and 28th in Revelstoke) takes place on Sunday, Sept. 17. The run is a legacy of Fox’s Marathon of Hope, when he ran the equivalent of a marathon for 143 straight days on one leg in order to raise money for cancer before being forced to stop his run near Thunder Bay due to his worsening condition.

He passed away on June 28, 1981, at the age of 22, but his efforts inspired Canadians and many others worldwide to take up his cause. The Terry Fox Run has raised more than $750 million for cancer in the 37 years since.

The run is an all-inclusive, family-friendly event, with no minimum fundraising requirement. Participants can run, walk or bike the route.

Volunteers help organize the run in the months leading up to it and guide participants on the day of.

To help out, contact Donna White, the provincial director for the Terry Fox Foundation, at 1-866-836-9786 or donna.white@terryfoxrun.org.
