After Dark Distillery is celebrating a year at its Shuswap Avenue location in the heart of Sicamous with some live music, a charity barbecue and a new product that will join its line of small-batch spirits. The anniversary celebration takes place on March 31 and April 1.
The distillery held its grand opening on April 15, 2017. This year’s anniversary celebrations will coincide with other long-weekend festivities in Sicamous including the Easter egg hunt at the Red Barn’s Farmers Market and the Easter hockey tournament held at the arena.
After Dark will be rolling out a new, barrel-aged spirit called “Loudmouth Soup” at the anniversary celebration.
Louise Perry, one of the distillery’s owners, said the business has been growing steadily and getting its name out with events like tastings during its year in business. Their top-selling product is their moonshine which comes in various flavours, but they also make two kinds of vodka as well as gin. After Dark products are now on store shelves as far away as Dawson Creek, Fort Saint John and Chilliwack.
“We’re trying to get out even farther,” Perry said.
There will be a charity barbecue at After Dark’s anniversary celebration with Eagle Valley Rescue manning the grill on March 31 while the Parkview PAC is cooking and collecting donations on April 1.
Seal Skull Hammer from Salmon Arm will fill the air with live music on Saturday and DB Cooper, a Swansea Point duo, will play on Sunday.
“Come out have a good time, enjoy some food and relax,” Perry said.
