The Highway 1 closure between Sicamous and Revelstoke Friday, Jan. 31, follows a series of jack-knifed semi-trucks and other vehicles losing control and spinning out at the highway's intersection with Revelstoke's Victoria Road.

Highway 1 is closed between Sicamous and Revelstoke due to a vehicle collision near Three Valley Gap.

Just before 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, DriveBC posted a report on X (formerly Twitter) stating that “a vehicle incident west of Three Valley Gap is causing delays in both directions.”

A still shot from the highway camera there shows traffic lined up in both directions on the snow-covered road. Additional posts to Facebook from a driver at the scene show pictures of a semi-truck tipped on its side in the eastbound lane.

This closure comes following a series of spin-outs farther east at Highway 1 and Revelstoke's Victoria Road, where multiple jack-knifed semi-trucks and other vehicles were reported by DriveBC on X around 11:30 a.m. Friday to have lost control in snowy conditions.

DriveBC had said to watch for an eastbound lane closure along, with a weather advisory remaining in effect for the city.

By about 1:15 p.m. Friday, Black Press Media confirmed on site at the Highway 1-Victoria Road junction that all spun-out vehicles were cleared and traffic was flowing without a lane closure.

Kody Moncrief said these kinds of incidents with semi-trucks losing control while trying to get up slopes are common, and that motorists are likely to see similar vehicle incidents Friday.

More to come.
