Updated: The avalanche control work was finished and the road is now clear.

Original: Trans-Canada Highway 1 east of Revelstoke will have intermittent closures on Thursday (Nov. 16) for avalanche control work near Rogers Pass.

The control work is between the Rogers Pass summit and Beaver Valley Rd., which is a roughly 11 km stretch of road. The intermittent closures could slow traffic for up to an hour at a time, but the work is expected to be finished by 1:00 p.m.

DriveBC said that the next update will be provided at 12:45 p.m.

Drivers in the area should expect delays and pay close attention for traffic control.
