Congestion eased Thursday afternoon following a major vehicle incident along the Trans-Canada Highway that caused delays about 50 kilometres east of Revelstoke, according to DriveBC.
By 4:20 p.m. July 3, provincial traffic cameras showed dozens of backed-up vehicles lining Highway 1 between Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks.
Some motorists riding the route communicated via social media that Highway 1 had been temporarily blocked both ways around one of the tunnels heading eastward into Glacier, as crews responded to the incident.
After 4:30 p.m., gridlock had eased and traffic appeared to be flowing normally, with DriveBC reporting the road was cleared but still advising to "expect delays due to congestion."
