The Revelstoke Grizzlies clawed their way to a 4-3 overtime win against the Sicamous Eagles in KIJHL action Friday night, Dec. 13.
The Eagles' loss, however, proved to be a win for the Eagle Valley Community Support Society as it was the team's first annual Toque Toss on home ice. Items blanketed the ice early in the game as Ashton Gallagher scored the team's first goal shoirthanded just over five minutes in, with Josh MIssfeldt and Dylan Konschuh adding assists.
The Grizzlies tied things up before the buzzer, with Jake Neufeld potted his 10th of the season off a pass from Jett Patola. The score remained status quo throughout the second until Weston Field edged Revelstoke ahead with an unassisted goal on a power play at the 18:42 mark.
Eagle Hayden Evans kept that lead short lived, however, when he scored his 11th on a power play early in the third, assisted by Clayton Gillmore and Gallagher. Hunter Fuoco followed that up less than two minutes later on the same power play, assisted by Ashton Angle. The Eagles had the game until Grizz Nathan White scored the tie, assisted by Kesler Fyfe and Jake Phillips-Watts, to force the game into overtime.
Faris Meddeb then sealed the deal for Revelstoke, scoring the game-winner with Patola adding another assist.
The win pushed the Grizzlies (18-3-0-2) into the third place spot in the league and dropped the Eagles (14-7-5-0) to seventh.
The Eagles are on home ice again on Saturday, Dec. 14 when they host the Quesnel River Rush, while the Grizzlies head south to take on the Kelowna Chiefs. Puck drop is 7 p.m. for both games.
