TELUS STORYHIVE Voices is back for its fifth year of supporting new, diverse and emerging digital content creators to share their stories with the world!

What story will you tell through STORYHIVE Voices?

Since 2013, content creators from across B.C. and Alberta have been sharing their passions and telling local stories from small towns and underrepresented communities, all with the support of TELUS STORYHIVE. These stories have sparked conversations, shifted narratives and helped launch the careers of emerging content creators.

As STORYHIVE launches applications for its fifth annual STORYHIVE Voices program, they’re looking for new and emerging digital content creators, as well as STORYHIVE alumni, to share fresh stories and spark community conversations.

“We are thrilled to launch the fifth season of the TELUS STORYHIVE Voices program,” says Audrey Kiss, STORYHIVE Interior B.C. Territory Manager. “It’s been amazing to witness the diverse range of video series brought to life through this program. The talent within our communities continue to inspire us, showcasing the power of local storytelling.”

With support from TELUS STORYHIVE, Celine Rytz has been able to expand her creative horizons and explore new opportunities within her community.

Celine has always felt a special connection to dogs. Whether trekking through the forests of Revelstoke, or working alongside avalanche rescue teams, dogs have been a key part of her life and career. So, when the opportunity arose to create a series celebrating the role of dogs in outdoor adventures and everyday life, she knew it was the perfect way to merge her passions for veterinary medicine, forestry and storytelling.

Once Celine learned about TELUS STORYHIVE’s support for community-driven storytelling, she knew it was the perfect platform to realize her vision.

“It’s been an incredible process as a first-time producer without past experience. The team at STORYHIVE heard how passionate I was about dogs, dog safety and the great outdoors and they helped me navigate the aspects of filming and production that were entirely new to me,” Celine says. “Thanks to their support and funding, I’ve been able to shine a much-needed spotlight on the importance of emergency preparedness, safety and wellbeing for dogs, whether at home or in the wilderness.”

Celine’s passion stems from her own experiences working with dogs in outdoor settings. Over the years, she has spent time tree planting, ski patrolling, hiking and biking alongside dogs, noticing a significant gap in education and resources to keep them safe.

“In Revelstoke, people are very knowledgeable about their own safety—first aid, avalanche safety, partner rescue—but when it comes to their dogs, there’s a lack of outreach and supplies. I set out to change that,” she says. “This series celebrates the incredible dogs I’ve worked alongside while encouraging viewers to be proactive in keeping their dogs safe.”

Celine shares that one of the most memorable moments during production was showcasing what it’s like to tree plant with dogs, a world both niche and deeply personal to her.

“Sharing the stories of the dogs I’ve worked with in the community feels like I’m finally giving back for all the joy they’ve brought me over the years,” she says.

The project also taught Celine the importance of ethical storytelling, particularly when portraying dogs in First Nations communities.

“One episode follows me to Maskwacîs, Alberta, where I volunteered at a spay-and-neuter clinic. It was crucial to include the voices of the local First Nations chief, council and residents to respectfully portray their way of life and combat harmful stereotypes,” she explains.

For aspiring STORYHIVE content creators, Celine’s advice is to lead with your heart.

“Storytelling from the heart resonates with everyone, even if they’re unfamiliar with your topic. Trust that what matters to you will matter to others because of the way you tell your story,” she says. “Let your heart and your passion lead the way.”

Celine also stresses the importance of considering the broader impact of your story.

“STORYHIVE provides an incredible platform to amplify your message. Think about who your story is impacting beyond yourself and how you can communicate the highest and best message for all,” she says.
