Award-winning Revelstoke filmmaker featured in double-premiere at Roxy Theatre

‘Star in the Sky’ and ‘Chasing Kasper’ are premiering in Revelstoke on May 7

Revelstoke’s award-winning filmmaker Lara Shea is hosting the hometown premiere of her latest film at the Roxy Theatre next weekend.

On May 7, the theatre will host a night of ‘exploring the importance of building resiliency within our mountain communities’ through two films: Shea’s ‘Star in the Sky’ and ‘Chasing Kasper’ by Nick Waggoner.

‘Star in the Sky’ premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival on March 3, and is a film about strength, resilience, the support of a community, and the tragedy of mental illness and loss.

Shea hosted her last Revelstoke film premiere in November 2021 when guests filled the Roxy Theatre to watch her directorial debut: ‘Sixty Seconds’.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. on May 7 and will feature a screening of the two films along with a discussion panel.

“If this film helps one person to reach out for help; to offer help; to create space and hope in the darkness, we will consider this to be a profoundly successful outcome,” reads the description for the event.
