Three boaters are lucky to be alive after they capsized their small craft in the Columbia River at Revelstoke on Sept. 5. The incident happened at about 6 p.m. right near the boat launch at Centennial Park. None of the three men on board were wearing lifejackets, but they managed to swim to the tiny island near the boat launch. A passing boater rescued them and their boat. Paramedics checked them out and they were fine. “Police encourage everyone to use a life jacket,” said Revelstoke RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Rod Wiebe. “Had circumstances been different in this incident life jackets can make the difference between life and death.”
