Breaking: Highway 97 closed again in both directions at Summerland slide

Highway 97 is closed in both directions where the slide took place in Summerland.

Vehicles are being detoured through the town of Summerland as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17.

There is no current estimated time of reopening the Highway. DriveBC has posted that there will be an update at 5:30 p.m. It’s believed the closure is for further cleanup of the debris.

Traffic along local roads is jammed. Give yourself extra time if you are leaving Penticton and heading north.
