The Southeast Fire Centre and CIty of Revelstoke have lifted their respective campfire bans that have been in place since last Tuesday.
Effective Friday, Aug. 15, at 4 p.m., campfires will be allowed in the city and throughout the region, which stretches from the U.S. border in the south to Mica in the north, and from the Alberta border in the east to the Okanagan Highlands in the west.
Recent rain and cooler weather has lowered the fire danger rating to a mix of moderate and low through most of the region. According to Environment Canada, the inclement weather is expected to continue through the weekend.
All other fires are still banned throughout the region.
