Revelstoke city council will explore a staff recommendation to allow advertising on bus shelters in Revelstoke.
A new report from the city’s economic development department recommends allowing advertising in order to fund additional bus shelters.
Currently, there are six bus shelters, which cost about $3,000 annually to maintain. In his report, economic development director Alan Mason said there is demand for more shelters, but no funding to pay for them.
Mason recommends that city council allow staff to draft a policy on advertising on transit shelters.
Council is scheduled to debate the matter at their Jan. 10 meeting.
