On Feb. 27 Council tentatively approved the nine-unit proposal, subject to bylaw amendments, that were passed in Council Chambers on March 27 following a public hearing.

The legislation will amend the Official Community Plan and rezone three properties on Columbia Park Drive. Those are: 131, 135 and 141 Columbia Park Drive.

There are currently single family dwellings on 131 and 141 Columbia Park Drive, and Vic Van Isle Construction has proposed to demolish the structure on 141 and to subdivide 131 in order to avoid demolishing the structure currently in place there.

The development application form states that after all three lots are rezoned the balance of 131 will be consolidated with 135 and 141 into one lot.

During the public hearing residents raised concerns about parking, the age of the potential tenants, boarding, water pressure and sewage.

Councillor Linda Nixon raised concerns about snow removal.

Councillor Connie Brothers raised concerns about parking.

The proposed townhouse units contain three to five bedroom dwellings. Each unit has a deck and two car garage.

The site will be encircled with a cedar plank fence for privacy.
