Former optician guilty of assaulting minor

Sex offence took place in Salmon Arm more than 25 years ago

A former Salmon Arm optician has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor.

The charge dates back more than 25 years and took place in Salmon Arm.

In BC Supreme Court in Kamloops on Dec. 1, Kenneth Pilkington, now in his early 70s, was found guilty of one count of sexual assault.

The offence took place when he was in his early 40s.

He was acquitted of a second count of sexual assault and a third of gross indecency.

A publication ban prohibits identifying the victim.

The date for Pilkington’s sentencing will be decided in Kamloops on Jan. 8.
