The election race in Kootenay-Columbia is a dead heat according to a new poll conducted for the progressive organization LeadNow.
The survey was conducted as part of LeadNow's efforts to encourage Canadians to band together to defeat the Conservatives.
It has launched the VoteTogether.ca website in order to encourage people in swing ridings to vote strategically to defeat Stephen Harper's government.
On Tuesday, LeadNow released poll results of 31 swing ridings, including Kootenay-Columbia.
The results put Conservative candidate David Wilks and NDP candidate Wayne Stetski in a dead heat, with 37 per cent support each amongst decided voters.
Liberal candidate Don Johnston and Green Party candidate Bill Green have the support of 15 per cent and 11 per cent of decided voters respectively.
People were asked, "If the federal election were held tomorrow, which one of the following parties would you vote for here in the riding of Kootenay-Columbia?"
They were also asked if they would change their vote in order to defeat the Conservatives.
The poll was conducted by Environics Research, who surveyed 529 people in the riding from Sept. 18–21.
The poll's margin of error is 4.3 per cent.
