One man is dead after crashing his car into an oncoming semi on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Revelstoke Monday night.

One man is dead after crashing his car into an oncoming semi on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Revelstoke Monday night.

RCMP say the crash happened when a westbound vehicle crossed the centre line and crashed into an oncoming tractor-trailer 18 kilometres east of Revelstoke on Monday, Nov. 30, at about 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, 26, died at the scene, while the driver of the semi experienced minor injuries.

“Weather and road conditions were favourable at the time of the incident, with investigation into the cause of the collision continuing,” wrote Cpl. Michael Wasylenki of RCMP Trans-Canada East Traffic Services in a news release.

The crash closed the highway for almost eight hours, according to DriveBC.
