RCMP seek pair who helped evacuate burning apartment

Three young men helped police evacuate the burning Valair Apartments, but police were only able to speak with one.

Revelstoke RCMP want help finding two young men who helped evacuate the Valair Apartments building on Sept. 19 after one apartment caught fire.

Spokesperson Staff-Sgt. Jacquie Olsen said three young men helped an RCMP member clear residents from their apartments while they waited for the fire department to arrive.

After the fire was over, only one of the men remained on scene.

“[The] Revelstoke detachment would like to publicly thank those three young men for their assistance in ensuring everyone’s safety,” Olsen said in a statement.

Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services is investigating the cause of the fire.
