Beloved Sinixt artist and musician Ric Gendron died on Sunday (July 9) at the age of 69.
Gendron was born in 1954 in Coulee Dam, Washington, and grew up attending school in Spokane.

Gendron was a member of the Sinixt Nation, whose territory spans from Kettle Falls, Washington to the Revelstoke area, and were declared extinct by the Canadian government in 1956. In 2021, the Supreme Court of Canada recognized the existence of the Sinixt in a landmark decision.
‘Coming Home’ was revealed at LUNA on Sept. 25, 2021 and features historical figures from the Sinixt Nation and members of Gendron’s family.
In an interview with the Revelstoke Review in 2021, Gendron said he spent ‘99 per cent’ of his time in his studio, creating art.
Community members are leaving a floral offering at the foot of his artwork to show gratitude for his gift to Revelstoke.
