Revelstoke CBT Community Initiatives funding decisions made public

The wait is over for 39 community groups that applied for funding through the 2011 Columbia Basin Trust's Community Initiatives program.

The wait is over for 39 community groups that applied for funding through the 2011 Columbia Basin Trust's Community Initiatives program.

The City of Revelstoke's committee of the whole today supported the decision from the committee that finalizes funding decisions on the proposals. The committee's decision will need to be ratified by city council next week, but that is highly likely since the committee consists of all city councillors. CSRD Area B director Loni Parker also has already approved the committee's recommendation.

A total of $538,463 was requested, but there was only $333,961 available in the 2011 round of funding, meaning $204,502 needed to be trimmed from the proposals.

The committee recommended at least some funding for 38 out of 39 of the projects. A $5,000 funding request from the Community Radio Station Stoke FM Radio Society was the only applicant to be denied any funding, although a note on the report says there is $2,000 in leftover funding from 2010 available to them, if they fulfill requirements such as providing a business plan and obtaining a broadcast license.
