The Revelstoke Rotary Club donated new shade sails at Kovach Park near the skatepark that will be installed by mid next week.
Shade Sails Canada were on site at the skatepark on Thursday (June 22) to install new shades. With four-foot holes filled with cement, the group were installing the support beams that will hold the sails. The new addition was partially funded by a donation from the Revelstoke Credit Union and will help visitors at the park enjoy a respite from the sun near the sea of concrete that makes up the skatepark and heats up the area.
Another sail is already at Kovach Park near the playground area, so the new one will provide more shade to a separate sunny space.
With the beams in place, the next step will be to install the sails. Once installed, the new sails will cover a broad area by the west side of the park, covering an existing bench. Shade Sails Canada said the two new sails will be cut over the weekend and will be installed at the park by the midweek next week.
