Revelstoke’s Canada Day Parade won’t be happening this year.

According to a post from the City of Revelstoke, road work on First St. and Mackenzie Ave. will not be completed in time for July 1, keeping the parade from taking place.

The City of Revelstoke thanked those who had already registered for the event and prompted them to begin planning for next year’s event.

The public has so far responded to this decision with criticism, with residents commenting on the city’s Facebook post urging them to take the parade down a different street.

Festivities planned to take place at Queen Elizabeth Park are still going ahead according to the City of Revelstoke.
