Coming next month, BeeKind Honey Bees is presenting their second annual Local Artist Bee Box Challenge from Apr. 1 - 30.

With this event, BeeKind is kicking off spring and the beekeeping season. Proceeds from the event will go to local non-profit organizations.

“We are looking for up to five talented local artists who are ready to put their creativity to the test by designing unique and beautiful beehive boxes that will be used by beekeepers,” said BeeKind.

Last year BeeKind raised approximately $1500, split between the Revelstoke Food Bank and Bee City Revelstoke, and they hope to raise more funds for these two organizations this year. The boxes will be auctioned off online to raise money.

“Not only will you be supporting a great cause, but you’ll also have an opportunity to showcase your talent to the community,” added BeeKind.

Each artist participating in the event will receive three beehive boxes to use as a blank canvas to design within 30 days.

All designs will be exhibited at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Center until mid May after the challenge is completed.
