Significant turnout in advance voting in the Kootenays

Advance voting turnout is strong in the Kootenays

Nearly one-third of registered voters in Kootenay-Rockies cast a ballot over six days of advance voting, ahead of the general election on Oct. 19.

According to Elections BC, 10,860 votes were cast out of 30,982 registered voters as of Oct. 7 in Kootenay Rockies.

The first (Oct. 10) and last (Oct. 16) days saw roughly half of the ballots cast during the advance polling opportunities.

In the 2020 B.C. election, 8,052 total ballots were cast during advance voting.

In Columbia River-Revelstoke, 8,336 votes were cast in advance polling, with 30,596 registered voters as of Oct. 7.

Again, just under half of the advance voting total were cast on the first and last days.

In the 2020 B.C. Election, 7,326 total ballots were cast in advance voting.

Provincially, one million votes were cast in advance voting, with 3.5 million registered voters as of Oct. 7.
