A snow biker is safe and sound after being stuck overnight on Mara Mountain between Enderby and Sicamous.
Vernon Search and Rescue received a call from Shuswap SAR Monday at 7:30 p.m. to help find an individual lost in the Hunter's Range area.
"We searched through the night and found his tracks," said Leigh Pearson, a Vernon SAR manager.
However, the search had to be suspended because of steep terrain and the potential risk to the crews.
Activities resumed Tuesday morning when a helicopter was brought into the area.
"They found him in about 15 minutes once they were on scene," said Pearson, adding that a winch was needed to remove the man.
Because many of the winch crew members work at Silver Star, the helicopter landed at the resort and the man was checked out by medical personnel there.
"He was cold and very tired but in good condition," said Pearson.
"The conditions on the mountain overnight were awful — lots of snow and cold."
Pearson has some advice for anyone heading out into the backcountry.
"Don't go down into steep gullies because you won't get back out," he said.
The snow bike has not been recovered from the scene.
