Kootenay highways getting some heavy snowfall

UPDATE 8:30 A.M.

The special weather statement for parts of the Coquihalla and the Coquihalla Connector has been lifted.

All that remains in B.C. are weather statements applying to highways around the Kootenays.

Highway 3, from Paulson Summitt to Kootenay Pass, and Kootenay Lake will get up to 10 to 20 cm of snowfall today.

“A low pressure system will move across the Kootenays this morning. Bands of heavy snow rotating around the low will continue to impact sections of the eastern Kootenays with additional localized snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm likely before snow tapers off later this morning,” reads an Environment Canada alert.
