UPDATE: Power restored in Lake Country; Westside, Falkland, Cherryville still in the dark

UPDATE TUESDAY, NOV. 16:

Power has been restored for many in Lake Country, but Cherryville and Westside residents are still left in the cold.

Outages were sparked during Monday’s storm, leaving thousands in the dark around 4 p.m.

Power has been out now for more than 3,600 residents near Traders Cove on the Westside since yesterday afternoon.

Cherryville and some rural Lumy residents have also been without power since Monday afternoon after a tree went down across wires. No crew has been assigned yet for this incident affecting 770 residents.

Power is also now out in Lavington for nearly 900 properties, including the elementary school and daycares. A crew is reportedly on scene after a tree went down across wires shortly before 11 a.m. last night. Power is estimated to be restored by 11 a.m.

All of Falkland and surrounding areas have been without power since Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. There is a crew on site trying to restore power to the more than 800 customers, including the elementary school. Westwold is also without power.

There are outages for 38 Creighton Valley Road properties and another 30 or so properties in Whitevale.

Another 30 Spallumcheen customers in the 800 block of Hutley Road have been in the dark since Monday night.

Wires are down in the Trinity Valley Road area, which has cut power off to approximately 70 people west of Bobbie Burns Road.

ORIGINAL MONDAY, NOV. 15:

Thousands of Okanagan residents have been left in the dark following the wind and rainstorm Monday.

There are 783 residents in and around Cherryville whose power went out at 4 p.m. Nov. 15. The outage affects some rural Lumby and Mabel Lake residents. As of 5:20 p.m. no crew had been assigned according to BC Hydro.

On the Westside, near West Kelowna, power has been out for more than 3,600 residents in the Traders Cove area since 3 p.m. BC Hydro reported a crew is on its way shortly after 4 p.m.

In Lake Country, there are 713 properties without power north of Okanagan Centre Road. No crew had been assigned to the outage as of 5 p.m.
