Truck driver requires swift-water rescue

The trailer stranded in the Eagle River near the Enchanted Forest since late January will remain until a removal operation is coordinated.

Wondering what's up with the truck trailer that's been in the Eagle River near the Enchanted Forest since late January? And whether the authorities have any plans to fish it out?

Cpl. Thomas Blakney of the Revelstoke RCMP explained the crash happened on Jan. 28 when the driver of the truck lost control and drove into the river.

He was stranded inside his truck in the river with minor injuries after the crash and required help getting out.

Revelstoke Search & Rescue was deployed to the scene and put their swift-water rescue skills to use rescuing the driver.

He has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

The cab of the truck was removed from the scene, but the empty trailer proved more challenging.

Cpl. Blakney explained that due to technical challenges, the owner of the trailer and Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Transportation officials are working on a date to get it out. The removal will require a highway closure.

So for now, the trailer remains in the river.
