UPDATE: Trans-Canada Highway re-opens at Three Valley Gap

A crash involving a tractor-trailer unit has closed the Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke Tuesday afternoon.

A tractor-trailer can be seen jack-knifed across the Trans-Canada Highway at Three Valley Gap in this highway webcam image.

The Trans-Canada Highway has re-opened at Three Valley Gap following a two hour closure Tuesday afternoon.

The highway was closed after a tractor-trailer jack knifed just west of the Three Valley Gap hotel at around 12:30 p.m.

The closure caused traffic to back-up for several kilometres and DriveBC says to expect heavy traffic volumes until traffic clears up.

Original story:

A crash involving a tractor-trailer unit has closed the Trans-Canada Highway west of Revelstoke Tuesday afternoon.

A DriveBC highway webcam image taken at 12:33 p.m. on July 15 shows a semi truck jack-knifed across all lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway just west of the Three Valley Gap hotel. It is not known if other vehicles are involved in the crash.

The highway is closed in both directions and there is no estimated time of re-opening. An update is expected at 1:30 p.m., DriveBC says.

Unconfirmed scanner talk indicates RCMP and Revelstoke Highway Rescue Services are on scene.

The Times Review will strive to keep this story updated, however we recommend checking DriveBC.ca for the most up-to-date information.
