Updated: Victim of logging road collision identified

A 33-year-old man died after a crash on a logging road south of Revelstoke on Friday.

RCMP say the incident happened on the Crawford Forest Service Road 22 kilometres south of Revelstoke at around 4 p.m. on July 4.

Two men were riding their dirt bikes southbound when they crested a hill and encountered a northbound pickup truck. One dirt biker was able to swerve and avoid the truck, but the other lost control and skidded his bike in front of the pickup.

The rider, Mark Dickson, was knocked unconscious and had trouble breathing. It wasn't long until he succumbed to his injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the BC Coroner Service.

The RCMP is reminding motorists to be careful while traveling on logging roads.
