Flash flooding was reported on Wednesday in Kamloops, where heavy rain came down and basements were soaking up (via Global BC).
Reporter Angelo Iacobucci, with Kamloops’s Radio NL, says the City Hall and Fire Hall Number 1 have been flooded, a landslide has occurred on Highway 5, and people are being told to stay off the roads – although, he says, some are trapped on top of their cars.
“So, basically what we have is widespread flooding, no injuries, but we haven’t seen a deluge like that in this city for 35 years,” Iacobucci reported Wednesday. “The main bridge to get from north Kamloops to south Kamloops, called the Overlander Bridge, one of the lanes is blocked off because of debris. There are cars in underpasses under 10 to 20 feet of water.”
