January 7, 1929 - November 25, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andy Vanryckeghem at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the age of 90 years. There will be no service as per Andy's request.
Andy was born in Roeselare, Belgium to Achiel and Martha Vanryckeghem. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 25. He became a Canadian Citizen on February 19, 1958. Andy married Shirley Wyld on September 17, 1966. They moved to Revelstoke in 1968 and he worked as a machine operator at Mica Dam. Andy was the owner of Alpine Trailer Towing. He moved many camps, mobile homes and houseboats throughout his many years. He was a hard worker and loved his job and loved driving his truck. Andy didn't stop working and driving his truck until the age of 87, when he finally retired. We are very proud of the man our dad was, and his work ethic.
Andy was predeceased by his wife Shirley on July 12, 2019. He is survived by his children Brenda (Grant) Ross, Wendy (Rick) Leibel and Stephen (Nerissa) Vanryckeghem; his grandchildren Josh, Sarah, Alexis, Naomi, Dennon, Alysha, Mitchel, Mackenzie, Caleb and Lydia as well as his sister Simone Bessem.
Andy's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Natalia, all the Home Care Workers and the Nurses at Queen Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care they gave our dad for the past year.
