Anna Marie Huckle


Mrs. Anna Marie Huckle passed away at Mt. Cartier Court Extended Care, Revelstoke, B.C. on Friday, November 21st, 2008 at the age of 97 years. A Memorial Service was held from the Revelstoke United Church on Tuesday afternoon, November 25th, 2008 with Reverend Ken Jones & Mr. Gary Sulz officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 1781, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, memory of Anna.


Anna was born in Saskatchewan on August 16, 1911 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1938. She was a long time member of the Revelstoke Hospital Auxiliary, Kinettes, K-39 Club, Rebekahs, Pythian Sisters and Nomads. She was on the Board of Stewards of the United Church. In 1976, Anna was named as Citizen of the Year by the City of Revelstoke, an honour she was very proud of. In her younger years, she served as Akela for the Cub Scouts for 17 years. She was well respected by all the cubs as their leader.


Anna was predeceased by her parents, three brothers; three sisters and her beloved husband Nelson in 1994. She is survived by two children: Nelson of Calgary and Mary Ann (Rudy) Matuga of Revelstoke; four grandchildren: Michael Vegh of Mission, John (Heidi) Vegh of Vernon, Julie Vegh of Revelstoke and Danny (Carla) Vegh of Port Coquitlam; three step grandchildren: Linda (Tom) McCulloch of Toronto, Cindy (Chris) Veznia of Thousand Oaks, California and Lee (Sara) Matuga of Burnaby; 12 great grandchildren: Taylor, Samantha, Shane, Amy, Jade, Lily, Jonah, Natasha, Saxon, Mica, Riley and Mckay; one sister, Irene Carson of Vernon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
