November 11th, 1927 - December 31st, 2009

Mr. Tony Cianflone passed away suddenly at his home in Revelstoke, B.C. on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Prayers were recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Tuesday evening, January 5th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, January 6th with Father Ronnie Tagnines celebrant. Pallbearers were Trevor Marback, Jim Spankes, Lorne Evin, Quinn Marback, Chad Deschamps and Wade Patrauchuk. Entombment followed at Ocean View Mausoleum, Burnaby, B.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Tony.

Tony’s life began in Amata, Provincia di Catanzaro, Italy, on November 11th, 1927 and he came to Canada in 1948. Tony and his wife Nina lived in Vancouver, B.C. and moved to Revelstoke four years later in 1952, and have been residents of the community for the past 58 years.

Tony and his wife Nina happily raised their family of five children here. Tony was a very hard worker and was employed at C.P. Rail for 50 years before retiring in 2004. His life long dream was for him and Nina to travel back to Italy but unfortunately shortly after retirement Tony suffered a massive stroke which put some great compromises on his daily life, but he never complained.

Tony had the greatest passion for gardening. He had often been told his was one of the best gardens in town. He enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey and soccer. He also enjoyed watching the Italian channel, playing bocce with the boys, wine making, summer trips to the Okanagan to pick fruits and vegetables, socializing with all, and always loved a good joke. Tony especially loved his involvement with his family, as that was most important to him. Tony suffered a great loss at the early passing of two of his children, son Rudy and daughter Terri as they were called home much too young.

Tony was predeceased by his parents Sarafina and Frank Cianflone, his mother and father-in-law Christina and Joseph Impiombato and brother-in-law Joe Cipriano, an infant son Anthony, son Rudy and daughter Terri. He is survived by his beloved wife Nina of 60 years, three daughters: Lillian (Lorne) Evin of Robson, B.C.,

Marie (Trevor) Marback of Revelstoke and Donna (Jim) Spankes of Kamloops; five grandchildren: Nicole, Danielle, Anthony, Quinn and Christina; four great grandchildren: Joshua, Emjai, Natalie and Brooks. He also leaves one brother Joe Cianflone of Vancouver and one sister Katerina Cipriano of Vancouver; nephews Frank (Christina) Cipriano and Lino (Monica) Cipriano, also of Vancouver.

Tony was a very generous, hard working, kind hearted, lovable person who loved to laugh… we love and miss him deeply.
