Barbara Anne Powers passed away in Kelowna on October 18, 2008, aged 75 years. Predeceased by her parents Franklin and Anne; sister Shirley Watson, husband Hazen (Lefty) and grandson Lee Powers. Survived by her children Terry (Rena) Powers, Trudy (Richard) Hooper, Thana (Jerry) Caponero, Lon (Wynelle) Powers, Rick (Karen) Powers, Russell (Kathy) Powers; twenty-one grandchildren, eleven great- grandchildren; sisters Kay (Wally) Ryder, Sharon (Dennis) Hillman; brother Ross (Fran) Elliott, as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was born on Wallace Mountain where her father worked at the Sally Mine. She pent her married life in Beaverdell, Carmi, Westbridge, Crouse Creek, Oliver, Malakwa, Revelstoke and the last 18 years in Kelowna. In Revelstoke Barbara was employed at the “King Edward Hotel” for 19 years. Along the way she made numerous friends who stayed in touch with her throughout her moves. Barbara enjoyed her vegetable garden and loved her flower gardens. Many Sunday afternoons were spent cooking for her family and friends where she played cards and board games, horse shoes and laughter. She was an avid crossword solver and an avid reader, especially history books. Barbara loved to reminisce with family and friends, Barbara was one of the few people who was born and remained in the beautiful valley.
