Mr. Cornelius (Cornie) Klassen passed away at his residence in Likely, B.C. on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at the age of 63 years. A Funeral Service was held at the Revelstoke United Church on Friday afternoon, February 13th with Reverend Martin Outhouse officiating. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. Pallbearers were Geoff Biggs, Albert van Goor, Mel Matchett, Bob Robins, Bill Fischer and David Brensrud. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, #109 – 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 1P6, in memory of Cornie.

Cornie was born in Morden, Manitoba on February 13, 1945 and was a resident of the Revelstoke area for many years prior to his move to Likely, B.C. in 1996. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed camping and travelling. Cornie loved his vehicles and especially enjoyed doing work on his tractors. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather and enjoyed hanging out with his grandkids. The joy of Cornie’s life was his wife Dorothy and his life revolved around her.

Cornie was predeceased by his parents Henry and Katrina Klassen, parents-in-law Aaron and Elizabeth Wiebe, brother Dave in 1986, brothers-in-law Bert in 2004, Donald in 2006 and Bill in 2008; sisters-in-law Gail in 1996 and Doreen in 2005, his nephew Dale in 1986 and baby niece Kathleen Wiebe. He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy of Likely, B.C.; two children: Stuart of Revelstoke and Kim (Todd) Arthurs of Revelstoke; five grandchildren: Kristin, Brayden, Crosley, Ainslee and Taylor; great grandchild Phoenix; his dog Sandy and cat Chow Mein; siblings: Henry (Jocelyn) Klassen of Cache Creek, B.C., Tena Welsh of Killarney, Manitoba, Susan Heindrichs of Clearwater, Manitoba; sister-in-law Barbara Wiebe of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
