August 25, 1997 - December 20, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Curtis Magarian, who left us far too soon at the age of 27.
Curtis was a beloved son, brother, partner, and friend whose kindness, compassion and sense of humour touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Curtis made friends everywhere he went, and he was a joy to be around. Born on August 25, 1997, and raised in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Curtis grew up with a boundless curiosity and a zest for life - the mountains, sky, and ocean were his playgrounds. He excelled in his career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) specializing in helicopters at both Mustang and Delta.
Curtis was a talented musician who expressed his rhythm through guitar, drums, and piano. He was passionate about riding the slopes (on a board, skis, or bike) and loved the games of lacrosse and hockey. He was a loyal fan of the Edmonton Oilers, and he never missed a chance to cheer on his favourite team. Countless good times took place in his Jeep "Pegasus" across Forest Service Roads (FSR) and the flats - hiking, biking, swimming, and camping with friends and having loved ones around him. Curtis shared a beautiful life of love and adventure with his partner, Ellen MacDonald and their two beloved dogs Willow and Levi.
Curtis and Ellen met each other while they were both working in High Level, Alberta and were inseparable from the moment they met. Their relationship was one of true friendship and forever love. They shared a home and filled it with love, laughter, and dreams for the future. They spent time with Curtis' family in Revelstoke, Kelowna, and Vancouver, and traveled to Ellen's family on the east coast in Prince Edward Island which was Curtis's second home. Curtis and Ellen explored across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Curtis is survived by his loving parents Roger and Jeanette Magarian who loved him to infinity and beyond, were very proud of the man he became, and so happy for the life he made with Ellen. He is also survived by his sister, Emma Magarian and her husband John Phillips. Emma loved being his big sister as he was so easy to love (and tease). He is also survived by his Omi, Gerta Broz (late Karl Broz). Curtis held a special place in their hearts as their favourite grandson (he was the only grandson). Also, by his Aunt Maria Pohl, and cousins Natalie Pohl (Mark Teterenko) and Ashley Pohl (Chris Abetkoff). Curtis is also survived by Ellen's parents Bobby and Kathy MacDonald, Ellen's siblings Melissa, Justin (Ashley, Jett & Scotti), Erin (Rylee & Haven), and Derek (Emily, Lily). Curtis was predeceased by his Uncle Allan Pohl in 2020 and his grandfather Karl Broz in 2022. His family, the love of his life, Ellen, countless friends, work colleagues, and extended family members in Ontario, Colorado, Florida and Australia will forever cherish the memories of Curtis' quick wit, his charming smile (which got him out of a tight spot more than once), the sound of his laughter, his kind heart, and his thoughtful and patient nature.
A celebration of Curtis' life will be held in April (date, time, and location to be determined). Family and friends are invited to gather to honour his memory and share stories of the joy, love and laughter he brought into the world and to those around him. We ask that everyone in attendance wear a plaid shirt in honour of Curtis. Ellen and the families ask that in lieu of flowers, if you are inclined to make a donation, please consider donating to the SPCA (of your choice) or to a bursary in Curtis's memory to help an RSS student that excels in music and shop.

Although Curtis is no longer with us in person, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. His time with us, while far too brief, was filled with love, laughter and adventure. Rest peacefully, dear Curtis. You will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.
